Frequently asked questions

Why are two 20% discounts not the same as 40% off?

Stacked discounts apply sequentially. The second discount is calculated from the already reduced price, so two 20% discounts produce an effective discount of 36%.

Does the order of offers matter?

Percentage-only offers produce the same total in either order, but mixing a fixed coupon with a percentage discount can change the result. Use the arrow controls to match the receipt order.

What happens when a fixed coupon is larger than the remaining price?

The applied discount is capped at the remaining merchandise subtotal, so offers never make the merchandise price negative.

What is the difference between added and included tax?

Added tax increases the checkout total. Included tax is extracted from the reduced displayed price for information and is not added again.

Should tax use the original or discounted price?

That depends on rules and the promotion type. Added-tax mode supports either basis. Included-tax mode extracts tax from the discounted merchandise price.

Is shipping taxable?

Rules vary by location and the items or delivery method involved. Turn on Shipping is taxable only when it matches the actual seller or jurisdiction.

When are values rounded?

The calculator keeps full precision through the calculation and rounds only displayed currency values. A seller may round individual line items differently, so its receipt can differ by a small amount.
