Frequently asked questions

Does this remove duplicate emails?

Yes. By default, addresses that differ only by letter case are treated as duplicates and the first occurrence is kept. You can make duplicate matching case-sensitive, and the result statistics show how many occurrences were removed.

How does the domain filter work?

Enter a complete domain and choose include or exclude. A filter for example.com also matches subdomains such as status.example.com.

What does Copy for To/CC/BCC produce?

It copies every address in the current filtered result on one semicolon-separated line, independently of the selected display separator.

Why is only the domain lowercased by default?

Email domains are case-insensitive, but the part before @ can technically be case-sensitive. Lowercasing only the domain avoids changing that part.

Which email addresses are supported?

The extractor recognizes common unquoted addresses with valid domain labels. It ignores incomplete addresses, consecutive dots, invalid domain labels, and quoted or internationalized mailbox syntax.

Will this remove plus tags or dots from Gmail addresses?

No. Provider-specific rewriting can merge different mailboxes or change an intended delivery address, so the formatter preserves parts unless you explicitly choose lowercase output.
